World Mental Health Day: Why We're Here
Oct 10, 2025
Today marks World Mental Health Day, first established in 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health to raise awareness and mobilize global efforts in support of mental well-being for all.
Thirty-three years later, the need to bring meaningful support to those in struggle has only grown.
We know the statistics: depression and anxiety are at record highs, especially among young people — and nearly half of those who need help never receive it.
But what we don’t talk about enough is the growing number of people quietly weighed down by a busy, disconnected world and everyday struggles like loneliness, purposelessness, relationship issues, grief, and more. Despite reports indicating the need to be in the hundreds of millions, many still lack access to support that feels relevant, affordable, and culturally attuned to their lives.
At team Ash, we firmly believe everyone deserves support that meets them where they are — in ways that fit their needs, their realities, and their values.
Today, we also pause to recognize the people making change possible: those with lived experience who share their stories; caregivers and families who offer daily support; mental health professionals and community organizations who extend guidance where systems fall short; and advocates and policymakers working to make life-changing tools accessible worldwide.
On World Mental Health Day, we’re reminded that mental health isn’t a niche concern — it’s a universal one. Meeting this moment means scaling solutions that are affordable, accessible, and meet people where they are.
The Ash team is proud to be part of the movement for this vital cause, alongside many friends, providers, communities, and partners who are working tirelessly to create a better reality.
